When i try to imported a XDD file I get this message "The imported XDD/XDC is not a valid MN XDD/XDC"
not sure what I'm missing here. The file was provided by a Industrial sensor company named Sick.
I have the lastest openCONFIGURATOR version.

From the error message I deduce that you try to add the Sick device as the Managing Node in you POWERLINK project. You can try using the Managing Node XDD shipped with the openPOWERLINK stack (\apps\common\objdicts\CiA302-4_MN) and add the Sick device as Controlled Node afterwards.

Thank you for the reply. I'm trying to use the wizards through Eclipes software. I was able to download the openCONFIGURATOR through their market place download center. As I give it a project name and go to the next step it requests a XDD file whitch is what I received from Sick and that is where it gives me the error. Also please be patience with me I'm very new to this. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Every POWERLINK network must have a managing node (normally PLC, industrial pc etc.) The first step for you in order to create a project is to define this managing node. The openPOWERLINK stack ships a default MN XDD for default use. I have attached this XDD. Afterwards you can add your Sick Device (Sensor I assume) to the network. Please refer to http://openpowerlink.sourceforge.net/ for more information about how POWERLINK works.
