Tech Details:
Device: Fairphone 2, (camera does not support Cam2API )
Android Version: 7.1.2, rooted Fairphone Open OS
Open Camera version 1.47.3, saving to internal memory DCIM (no SD Card involved)

The following problem occurs since about two weeks. No updates to the device OS or Open Camera have been made that I am aware of.

Expected behaviour:

  • point and shoot a picture
  • picture gets saved in a mattter of a few seconds and is vieweable in the gallery app

Problem:

  • I take a picture
  • the small preview-window blinks for up to 43 seconds until the picture is saved and available to view in the Gallery app

Things I have tried to no avail:

  • turning the phone off and on again
  • reset open camera to default settings
  • uninstalling and reinstalling open camera
  • HDR, DRO or STD makes no difference

Anyone have an idea what else I could look into?

    Addendum:

    • default camera app saves pictures instantly
    • app permissions to both open camera and default camera are "Use Camera" "Use Microphone" "Use storage" "NO use location"
    • I have tried to find out what changed in the last two weeks but I have not even installed any additional apps
    • Using open camera since November 2018 and never had this issue

Same here, independent of API1 or V2, or whether it's using storage framework or not.
First picture (after sleep or first start) usually takes forever, then the others are fine. Until going to sleep and coming back again.
Basically makes the app unusable. :-(

Also trying to view the gallery ends in an infinite wait, usually android telling me to close or wait more, but it locks so much that even the pulldown menu can't come down.

This is on a [rooted] MI9 with Pixel Experience ROM.

    Solution

Settings>Camera settings>File format was set to PNG.
    This created 28MB Files @ 3072x4096px
I have now set the picture format to JPG and it creates 4MB files at the same resolution.
