In Magic Lantarn (a custom firmware for some DSLR cameras), there is the option to add a semi-transparent image on top of the preview, called a "ghost image". Several stop-motion apps also support this with the name "onion skin". This is very useful for aligning a recording to a previous recording. It would be nice if Open Camera would also be able to do this.
For still images this is probably not too hard to implement. It would be even nicer if it could also select a frame from a previously recorded movie to use as the still.
And if I'm listing possible extra features anyway: for an entirely different use case it could be useful to have the ghost to start playing when the recording starts, so that it's possible to prepare a video which includes the ghost for several runs of an event.

It's on my todo to add something like this (also see https://sourceforge.net/p/opencamera/discussion/general/thread/468f2ef0/?limit=25#3829 ). Keep meaning to get round to this "soon" although I'm afraid I haven't done so yet.
Next version will support this, either for the last photo taken, or a selected image on your device.
Supporting for a specific video frame is much harder though.
