I changed the file save location from sdcard0 to sdcard1 and now i get a message that it cannot save the picture.
If i change it back to the default location it will save it properly

Can you post the results of Settings/About please?

It's possible the path still isn't back to what it should be. Does a "Reset settings" (under Settings) get things back into a working state?

I see the same problem: as long as I use a folder in the internal memory (/storage/sdcard0/DCIM/OpenCamera), everything works fine, but when I try to use a folder on the sd card (i.e. /storage/extSdCard/...) saving photos fails. I can't see an easy way to pass the "settings/about" output (obviously I can see how to copy it to the clipboard, but my cell's browser seems not to want me to paste it. My phone is using Android 4.4.2 (it's a samsung S3 mini).

Android 4.4 doesn't allow third party applications to write to SD cards.

any workaround for this? I'm having the same issue and my internal memory fills up quick.

I look it up and the application has to use the new https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/providers/document-provider.html for it to work properly.

Open Camera supports Storage Access Framework, please see http://opencamera.sourceforge.net/help.html#faq "How can I save to my external SD card?"
