    Hi,
I hate digital zooms so I never use them.
I've turned off the slider and the keys in Open cam but I've noticed that the 'pinch' still works on the zoom factor.

I can live with this in the stock google cam as it's reset each time I open the app.

Open cam remembers the zoom factor so if I accidentally zoom in while manupulation the interface, I don't realise it (there dosn't seem to be any zoom factor feedback in the interface if the slider and keys are deactivated).
I only notice it when previwing shots. I shoot in RAW all the time and i see the difference between the jpeg and the RAW in the browser.

I'd like an option to deactivate zoom in all permutations.

    Thanks.

Me too. I've NEVER understood the point of digital zoom. Would love to have that option disabled.

Maybe it's time for me to get my hands dirty and start learning Android Studio :)? It's a project that's loosely on the horizon. May as well speed up that timeline.

I've added this to my todo. Open Camera does reset the zoom when it's competely restarted, but yes in practice it will just be resuming from background when people starting. So maybe it's better to just reset the zoom every time if that's what other camera applications tend to do.

Yesterday I messed up a (small) batch of photos because digital zoom was accidentally activated :). Luckily I caught it before too much damage had been done (I was taking pictures of the interior of a wall to photo stich them together into a larger image).

    I second this feature request.

The latest version (1.43 onwards) now no longer saves the zoom, so it will now always reset even when pause/resuming (this seems in line with other applications). So this should make this problem much less common, but please let me know if people are still interested in disabling multitouch zoom altogether...

Sorry, I found this thread while seeking how to keep zoom level between app pause.
Is it possible to make this configurable?

My usecase is to photograph slides from lectures. I don't keep the phone unlocked for all this time, so have to set zoom again for every new photo - very uncomfortable, sometimes missing some slides spending time on that.

        Thanks a lot!
My Samsung Galaxy S5 did not reset zoom on stock camera pause, btw.

Thank you for such a cool and opensource application.
Found and tried to use your support page on opencamera.org.uk, not successfully (
It forces to create/use PayPal account and mine has some problems, have only this text from PayPal:
"We couldn't complete your payment for you. To get your payments working again, check your account or contact us"

Well, thanks for trying to donate anyway :) In theory it should be possible to do so with credit/debit card without logging into a Paypal account, but it's not something I can test unfortunately. I don't know why it would be failing.

As far as I see, it forces you to:
            - create an account if you have none (separate form section at PP page bottom)
            - login to your account if trying to pay using linked credit card
            :(
That is problem with my PP account, seems like I can't pay anything until solving it.

Ah I see. No worries, thanks for trying anyway!

(managed to resolve PP issues, did a small but successful transaction :) )
