Hello,
I make videos with Open Camera on my LG G5 smartphone.
Since the automatic exposure setting of LG G5 is problematic (changes very often), I started to use the manual ISO / exposure setting of Open Camera — great free app, by the way. But then, another problem appears : screen gets black (what I call "black flashes") from times to times, and, unfortunately, those "black flashes" are recorded too… I cannot link these black flashes with any specific adjustement of exposure. It seems quite random.
Does anyone meet the same issue ? Is there a solution ?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Olivier (France)

I don't have an LG G5 to test with, and I haven't really heard details on LG devices for Camera2 manual controls one way or the other.
How do other third party camera applications perform, that support camera2/manual controls, when recording video with manual ISO/exposure? (E.g., A Better Camera, Footej.)

Thank you for answering, and sorry to be impatient…
I didn't try with Footej, A Better Camera, or any other third party camera application. I am not a specialist of filming, and can't claim I have fully explored this field. But I will soon, and will report here what I found or not.

So far, I didn't have any "blacks flashes" problem. Just to let your know.
It seems to be a specific issue of Open Camera.

to give you the details, the black flashes happened because ISO and and Exposure Time suddenly set to the lowest (I had no idea what caused this), but it's not something like camera closed or camera error, I notice when this happened the realtime ISO/shutter speed text shows ISO 50 1/10143.5s, and it still recording... but of course with those setting it is very-very dark..
yes, it happened randomly and only in manual mode.. everything just fine in auto exposure mode
I attach screenshot when it happened,
hope it can help Mark to fix the bug

hi, i must say that OpenCamera is the best and most complete camera app i ever used, so same bug here but i think i found the problem, i can only reproduce the bug but only when using MANUAL SHUTTER SPEED 1/30, any other shutter speed wont flash a black screen, ISO doesnt seem to have any effect on the bug , i use a LG V30, so temporary solution AVOID 1/30 SHUTTER SPEED

Thanks for the info. Might be worth trying with other third party camera applications that allow manual shutter speed, does the same thing happen there?

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately this isn't something easy for me to fix, but I've put a note on my todo.
