Taking picture with voice command 'cheese' is only active for a few seconds after pressing the button. It is red for a few secs waiting for 'cheese' then turns white again. No such problem with the 'make a sound' function.

Came here to ask about this. I've been looking for a configuration option to extend the time that it listens either within Open Camera's settings or the device settings. This would be a great replacement for a 20-30 second countdown (or more) when trying to get a big group together for a shot. I tried it out at a Christmas gathering and couldn't get it to work, then I realized it was timing out really quickly.
I haven't tried the "make a sound" option, maybe that will work better on my device as well.

I have tried several times to use the voice control cheese command and it simply does not work for me.
When I tried the make a sound option all I got was "failed to initialize audio listening"
