Custom ratios are a frequently requested feature, eg, this rubric has requested a few times the true photo ratio of 3:2 that goes way back. I realise there will be a reason why most camera apps only offer some selected aspect ratios.
An alternative way of achieving a specific custom ratio is to put the guiding grid into a central maximum box with the selected custom ratio. This helps the user compose the picture and later on automatically crop to the desired custom ratio. They might select the maximum native resolution for taking the picture (or not as the case may be), chose a certain custom ratio, compose using the guiding box with custom ratio and whatever guiding lines have been selected (or not), and always later on in an automated post-processing step crop the images to the desired aspect ratio.
From a User Interface point of view, the only added input would be "Show a bounding box" with the ratio as parameter. Optional: on the display the strips outside the bounding box could be hatched, shaded or greyed.
