Hi Lorena, i successfully set up gprs on a virtual machine. First I think you should pin point the problem: are you able to ping external services? If so, it is simply a dns problem (edit /etc/resolv.conf). If you cannot even ping external addresses, try to run a tcpdump to see what communication is in place with the bts. The bts logs might also be useful. Finally, have a look at the VM network adapter settings.
