I had something like that a longer time ago, with uhd and gnuradio.
Radically erasing everything that had to do with gnuradio and uhd, pulling
the sources, compiling and installing it all again was a work of a few
minutes (+ compiling time = lunch time), and everything was fine again.
Sometimes things are weird, especially when Windows users fool around with
Linux :)
