This highly depends on your choice of MNC, MCC and LA. When all three are
copied from a live network in your area, phones come from this network to
your network without registering. So your BTS does not know that they are
here, until there starts any action from the phone, like initiating a call
or sending a shortmessage, or until the T3212 timer kicks in and forces a
PLU. Also your phones do not know that they suddenly are in a totally
different network. It is strongly advised using a different LA fur such a
setup, to allow the system recognizing new users.

 

Anyway, what I described here is bad practice in all parts, as cloning a
live network in most cases is highly illegal, causes trouble to unsuspecting
users around you, interrupts phone traffic, kills emergency communications,
interrupts m2m-communications. It leaves a bad taste of IMSI catching.

Please note that, In order to register users to my OpenBTS network I set the
MNC, MCC & ARFCN of my OpenBTS without changing the LAC currently. Does the
changing LAC has any effect on Open or Normal Registration of local users?

As far as I know the cellID is not stored, so it is not available later.
This would make sense, as the cellID is not relevant for the phone and the
connection tracking, the phone can switch between cells of a LA as it likes.
Just the LAC is important, to trigger location update.

Hi,
Can some one please let us know if we can obtain the old Cell ID of a
subscriber who has registered from another network to OpenBTS network.
Please note that, From the TMSITable.db , we can get to know the OLD LAC of
a subscriber who has registered to OpenBTS network , Similarly, is there any
method to know the OLD CELL ID of the same subscriber too?
