And one thing, maybe this also affects your radio. Go to Transceiver52 and edit the UHDDevice.cpp file. The line “#define TX_AMPL” is originally set to 0.3 what not necessarily makes sense. Setting this to 1 triples the output power, and as we have here a digital system using the whole numeric range does no harm J Ralph. From: Ralph A. Subject: Re: [Openbts-discuss] Issue related to USRP N210 - transmission range and call quality No, you do not need an amp, first you need to choose frequencies and band and antennae and antenna position wisely. Then you may need to adjust the rxgain. A range of 200m is possible without any additional amps. Please tell us more, what band, what ARFCN, what antenna setup are you using? Ralph. Subject: Re: [Openbts-discuss] Issue related to USRP N210 - transmission range and call quality Hi Mohamed, You need an amp on the tx antenna for an improved coverage, I would advise you to add a cavity duplexer too (though filtering on the rx part), the whole thing is described in the book. Now I have built my own BTS with N210 USRP but the problems I faced are 1. limited coverage area (around 60 feet) 2. poor quality (voice call is clear only within 30 feet) So I have to solve this issue as soon as possible. So I would like to get your guidance on these issue. I need to know what are the improvements can be made to increase the quality and coverage that could be adapted with the USRP.
