[Openbts-discuss] Why can't virtual machines work for OpenBTS?

Hi all,

I would like to use a virtual machine  ( OpenVZ ) to run OpenBTS. However, I saw a message from OpenBTS wiki. It said that "Virtual machines are not likely to work, nor is Cygwin. "

I am wondering why Openbts can't be run on the virtual machines. Since the OpenVZ can run native speed, OpenBTS should work on OpenVZ. Right? 

Currently, I have a hard time to install the OpenVZ. Could any one please tell me the reasions that OpenBTS cannot work on OpenVZ? Since I have spent a lot of time on installing OpenVZ and keep failing,  should I keep trying to install the OpenVZ to run OpenBTS or just give up the OpenVZ? 

Any suggestions or help will be appreciated.
