I'd make sure that Xcode is finding the right version of libopenbabel and headers.

Well, iBabel is an AppleScript project, so it won't be much help. I've used Xcode for ChemSpotlight and it works out OK. I haven't tried the forcefields, but I don't see any reason they would not if the command-line works.

Can you post your Xcode project?
