When a peer tries to join an existing open chord network the join() method does not terminate and the peer is blocked forever.

A deadlock can occur if a new peer joins the network.
The attached file should resolve his problem.
It contains new versions of affected files and must be unpacked to the directory where open chord is located. If a new jar file of open chord is required, it must be rebuild using ant.
