I have used exclusively RedHat for the past several years and did so because I thought it would be better for end users to have that support structure available even if they didn't use it. I have been harassed by several people the past year or so about going to Debian and building Debian packages of my software. This may become a reality now that I realize we will have to maintain a CVS with all of the foundational software as well as TORCH2 code (see previous email). The other thing that is leading me toward a Debian distribution is the proposal by Bruce Perens regarding UserLinux (see: http://www.userlinux.com/white_paper.html). I have written to Bruce regarding FOSS for healthcare and I am considering getting heavily involved in this organization. I highly recommend that those of you wishing to get involved in doing TORCH installations etc get involved in this as part of your support structure. Thoughts? Cheers, Tim |
