From the developer mailing list:
The problem witht the Allura menu on our page is reported to be that
it is too slow load, so the default menu loads instead.By refreshing the page several times I'm able to load the menu.
The problem is known, but it may be more severe than you are aware of.
For to weeks now I couldn't, whatever I tried, load the menu on the Summary (main) page:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/oorexx/ https://sourceforge.net/projects/oorexx/?source=directory
This included two OS (Linux, Windows XP), different hardware, private + professional internet providers, in two countries (Germany, Netherlands), but always Firefox.
Whenever I used a bookmarked deep link like for the news feed
https://sourceforge.net/p/oorexx/news/
then the menu appeared already on the first page load.
If my experience is widespread, then new visitors will miss the ooRexx infrastructure (mailing lists, bug trackers, ...).
Therefore I propose to include a hardcoded deep link on the Summary (main) page, at the end of the Description text, labeled "learn more ..." and leading to the news feed.
The purpose of this link is to expose the menu, the news is just a side effect.
Of course, if my problem is exceptional, then the proposal is worthless.

Uli,
The problem is not more severe than I knew. I knew that it was highly unlikely that regular users would ever be able to find their way past the summary and file download pages.
Your suggestion is a good one. Why don't you bring it up on the developers list and get Rick and David to buy into it.
