Hi

I have recently installed rexx version 4.1 on one off my AIX'es.
AIX version: 61-05-011016_SP, runs on POWER7 hardware, same problem seen on POWER5 and POWER6 hardware.

rexx works fine but after some time I se that rxapi starts looping.
I have seen same behaviour in rexx 4.0.1, but never got a solution for it.
It looks like it happens more frequently if I add more CPU's to my AIX,

With only one CPU it works for 5-7 days before looping starts.
If I have 2 or more CPU's on the system the loop usualy starts within 1 day.

Is there anything I can do to collect some documentation to you when the loops is happening ?
I hope you can help me finding this problem or I am stuck at version 3.2 that is working fine.

    Hi

We still have problem in the 32-bit version.

So the problem has not been fixed.

What do you need for futher investigating ?

    Committed revision 7539.

This commit back ports the fix Rick did in trunk, r6571.

Henning - this fix, that you said worked for your 64-bit system with the test build, will be in the next bug fix release. Please be sure and test the beta 4.1.1 when we are in the beta period.

    Hi.

Thanks for the info, I test the new version as soon as possible.

What about the 32-bit version, any news in that area ?

    /Henning

    Henning,

The 32-bit and 64-bit versions of ooRexx use the same code, so the fix is in either version.

    Hi

Can you say anything about when 4.1.1 will be available on AIX ?

Rainer will have to do the build, none of the other developers have access
to an AIX box. I can't say when he might do that.

You could try doing a build yourself from source, it should be relatively
    simple.

I'm going to move this out of pending so it doesn't get closed with the other pending bugs.

We believe it is fixed, but we do not have an AIX release build for 4.1.1 to verify it.

    Randy,

We need someone to step forward with access to an AIX box to build a 4.1.1 release package for AIX. Perhaps you could be that person?

The fix is available now, in the 4.1.1 source tree.

    Hello,
I am sorry for the delay... currently I am buried in SAP migration projects.
But I will try to build the 4.1.1 release (32/64 bit) in the next week or so. This release should work for AIX 5.3/6.1 and 7.1.

    Bye
    Rainer

    Henning and Randy,

We believe this bug is fixed. AIX 32-bit and 64-bit versions of ooRexx 4.1.1 are now available.

Please test this bug and let us know if it is fixed or not. If I don't hear back from either of you by the end of August, I'm going to close this as fixed.
