Hi, With a view to start marketing Oxygen Office soon (new website etc.) I would just like to clarify the intended audience of Oxygen Office. At the moment it seems that the software is trying to be everything to everyone. The main problem with this is that at the moment when someone downloads the software they get a whole load of templates included with it, half of them they will never use. For example a home user would rarely use the 'Document of Technical Validation' template. My proposal would be to have seperate packages for home, office and education users. There could also be a premium package that contains all content should the user want it. Not only would this allow us to target content to specific users but it would also help with marketing the software by specifically targeting users e.g 'OxygenOffice Home'. Anyway this is just my opinion and i'd like to hear your views on this. The main factor i think would be how hard this would be to implement? James |

OxygenOffice Professional can profit from this feature IHMO. I like the idea very muck. It can help us to make more balanced offer for end users. > I would be willing to do the majority of the web side of things however > i've never programmed in C++ so I wouldn't be able to do the client > side. But this is a good task. Also some improvment might need itself gallery. I have several ideas, but this we should discuss with the core team of OpenOffice.org. I CC many programmer who apply for OOOP project as a programmer also the GFX PL from SUN (Kai Ahrens). > Also while i'm posting I thought I would show some ideas I have had for > splash screens for the project as I feel that the whole project would > benefit from some new graphics to bring it up to date. Hi, I haven't been contributing to the project long however moving from Microsoft to OxygenOffice has helped me become more aware of the features that the software is lacking. One which is particularly relevant to this project is the lack of means to search an online collection of templates and clipart etc. Doing this would allow contributors to upload new content and allow users to access this without having to wait for the next release. Anyway my main question is does the project have the expertise to integrate such a feature into the gallery feature? I would be willing to do the majority of the web side of things however i've never programmed in C++ so I wouldn't be able to do the client side. Would anyone be interested in helping with this? Also while i'm posting I thought I would show some ideas I have had for splash screens for the project as I feel that the whole project would benefit from some new graphics to bring it up to date. I have made versions for each different application (only calc, writer and draw are shown) even though there is currently no splash screen for these. Would it be possible to build in a new splash screen for each of these programs as well as replacing the main one? The splash screens can be seen here: http://first4quality.co.uk/OxygenOffice/SplashProposalDocument.pdf Regards, James |

Hi everyone, I joined the mailing list today and just thought I would introduce myself to let you know my skills etc. I saw a couple of posts for help on the source forge website, the most relevant for me probably being the role as promoter. I currently work as a freelance web/graphic designer therefore I have a fair amount of experience in marketing/promotion. My first thought was that the project needs a website! I have had a quick go at a website mockup (based on content from OpenOffice, couldn't find any for oxygen office) which can be seen here http://first4quality.co.uk/OpenOffice/ I would be interested to know what you think of this and if your happy with it I could work on integrating this with a CMS such as Drupal. Followed by submissions to forum and review sites this should hopefully raise awareness of OxygenOffice. Anyway below is a list of my main skill areas: - Design (photoshop) - PHP - Flash - XHTML - CSS - JavaScript - Drupal Looking forward to hearing from some of you, James |

Hi! I made a first step to provide templates for all supported languages. I added five Impress layer templates (background) to all languages. I set the language elements via script and I will do same for titles too. Here I need your help, because you have to translate these strings. I will provide you a small textfile to do this. I hope you can help us. Also I would like to translate more templates this way. Also I found a cool tool - OmegaT - which can translate OpenOffice.org documents directly. You can download it here: http://www.omegat.org/en/omegat.html I kindly ask you to translate some templates to your language. If you want I can search and send you templates that easy to translate. Also I want to create a small framework to automatize some text extraction, translation, rewrite of templates to makd our wouk easier. If you can you can help me to archieve this. And what about a small site for translation where users can login then translate the new or changed translation strings on a easy-to-use website? That is all! Best regards, KAMI |

Hi Fan of OxygenOffice Professional! We would like to increase the number of provided templates. I would like to ask you to collect, categorize and send me free templates in you language. Any templates in supported languages are welcomed: FR, IT, DE, EN-US, KA, TR, NL, PL, ES, BR-PT, HU. This is a very important task to do. You have to include only free (free to use for any purpose, free to modify) licensed materials. Let's organizing these templates in the default openoffice.org categories: officorr -> “Business Correspondence” offimisc -> “Other Business Documents” personal -> “Personal Correspondence and Documents” forms -> “Forms and Contracts” finance -> “Finances” educate -> “Education” layout -> “Presentation Backgrounds” presnt -> “Presentations” misc -> “Miscellaneous” layout for Impress backgrounds, presnt for Impress prewritten presentations. I can provide some useful links to support your work: Italian: http://ooextras.sourceforge.net/downloads/italian/ French: http://ooextras.sourceforge.net/downloads/french/ http://fr.openoffice.org/Documentation/modele/index_model.htm Various languages: http://www.diyplanner.com/templates/index http://www.kde-files.org/ General: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ooolabels You can edit the license file here: http://ooop.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/ooop/trunk/documents/license/ This is very important because we can track the licenses here. The licenses causesed many headache to me I do not want a problem from this kind of matter. Have a nice and productive day! KAMI |

Hello! I am glad to to announce that I have been preparing for release of OxygenOffice 2.3. So we have to work again to make release happen. First of all - the bad news for German translators -- you have to create sdf file for localization because in the 2.3 version of OOo was removed the DE langugaes from the sources -- So I have to remove it from OOOP too and put in to the sdf files. I can help it with the current strings, but I need a contributor who make this translation. Another request is -- templates and galleries. If you have good templates in your language (or gallery elements) under free license please send it to me. To make my work easier please follow the next rules: Please collect OpenOffice.org license compatible templates in your language and short them into these categories... officorr -> "Business Correspondence" offimisc -> "Other Business Documents" personal -> "Personal Correspondence and Documents" forms -> "Forms and Contracts" finance -> "Finances" educate -> "Education" layout -> "Presentation Backgrounds" presnt -> "Presentations" misc -> "Miscellaneous" Note: layout for Impress backgrounds, presnt for Impress prewritten presentations Then zip it and send to me. Also you can help to improve the currently available packages, with new templates and correcting/improving the already included one. Best regards, KAMI |
