hi,
i think this tool should be included as its not available
anywhere except for byrons poly tools.
The tool adds a new edge on either side of a selected
edge. so if you were to select a row of edges, this tool
would add two rows of edges which run parallel with the
selected edges, one on either side of the selected row.
To maintain quads, the ends of the new row of edges is
terminated as a tri, this tri is formed with the end of the
selected row of edges. this creates two tri's which
share a common edge, this common edge is
automtically deleted to create a quad.
this tool should also have a slide value as well in order
to adjust the distance between the new edges and the
original edge. note that the new edges should run
parallel with the selected edge at a constant distance,
and should not be an average distance between the
selected edge and its adjacent edge like you would get
from an edge loop split.
the purpose of this tool is to create very quick solid
edge which form a hard edge when smoothed or sub
divided. the slide value would thus allow you to control
how rounded this hard edge would be.
for best reference, please see byron poly tools (under
solid chamfer). this tool is not available on highend3d
and would make a welcome adition to OMToolbox, if
you wish i can provide screen grabs as well.
