Could be code or operator misunderstanding. I thought there were points in the quest were you knew that certain items were not needed. Last time I ran the Steel in OQ there were tasks for all items.
If it is the case that you have to get an item before you know whether you need it or not then my understanding is wrong and Nevermind. Otherwise there is a Pandemonium script that does seem to me, from watching it, to know what it needs and doesn't.
You had mentioned that you finess the problem by getting bus passes first. In a SC run that would just pull the passes so the SC strategy for me has been to get the items and then pull the hopefully less than 5 passes needed.
It's a case of multiple items satisfying a single requirement. Once you get an item, the other item that satisfies that requirement should no longer be listed in Present. I believe this is working correctly, but I will watch more closely next time.
It has seemed to work correctly the last several times I've done this quest. When I acquire one of the bandmember items, both that item and the other item that works disappear from the list. Calling this working as intended.
