hi,
if you try to mux an avi contains video _and_ sound
with an additional audio-tracks, than the audio-stream
from the AVI get's copied to the ogm-file. that's not
what i expected.
the sound from avi also get's played back, so i'm not
sure if the audio-stream just get's copied, or really
muxed in the ogm-container.
i _must_ add an audio-track when using oggmux, so i
guess you should strip off the sound from the avi file.
if you get it manged to import the sound from the avi
file correctly, that would be coolest.

This behaviour is intentional as noone complained about it -
even better, some people use this way to mux ac3 into OGM.
This behaviour will stay that way I guess...

which behaviour is intentional?
why _must_ i add audio-tracks, although the avi itself
contains audio which is also copied? is it correctly copied
and muxed into the ogm?
if not, why isn't it stripped?
ogg-mux also supports adding an ac3-wav, so i don't see any
reason, why the audio of the avi is copied.

Why not just have a selection box "Keep exisitng AVI audio
streams" || "Discard AVI audio streams". That's how I would
do it.

i guess ogg-mux doesn't even split the avi into video and
audio-stream. so it is neither able to keep or strip the
audio-stream not abled to convert the avi-audio stream into
a proper ogm-audio stream
