def: Multi-tissue structure that is region of the body posterior to the last anal-fin ray
comment: Comments: This is a gymnotiform structure. The caudal appendage can include vertebrae, a cartilginous rod, pterygiophores, anal-fin rays, and intermuscular bones.nDefinition reference: Albert, JS and WL Fink. 2007. PHYLOGENETIC RELATIONSHIPS OF FOSSIL NEOTROPICAL ELECTRIC FISHES (OSTEICHTHYES: GYMNOTIFORMES) FROM THE UPPER MIOCENE OF BOLIVIA. Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology 27(1):17-25.

The term "appendage" should be reserved for the organism subdivision (which is how it will be defined in CARO2). The text def is more or less consistent with this, but the partonomy isn't. As such, the caudal appendage is not part of the skeleton, it overlaps - i.e the caudal appendage has_part some caudal appendage skeleton which is part of a postcranial axiom skeleton.

I think it is safest to obsolete this and introduce two new classes. It doesn';t seem to have been used in annotation
