Greetings, We're in the process of creating GO flat file and GO OBO file versions of the eVOC ontologies (http://obo.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/detail.cgi?evoc or http://www.sanbi.ac.za/evoc/). We would like to annotate the terms with cDNA libraries but it seems neither the GO flat file nor the newer GO OBO file formats make provision for this. I am aware of the GO annotation file format but that is designed for linking genes or gene products to terms and is not really flexible enough for out purposes. Specifically there are numerous mandatory fields which we can't assign useful values to. How are other OBO people handling annotations when using the GO formats? Or other formats for that matter?
