The IEDB group wants to add this grouping term for our T cell assays:

  • editor preferred term: T cell epitope dependent biological activity assay
  • textual definition: A T cell epitope recognition assay that detects a biological process that is triggered by TCR:epitope binding events, rather than measuring the binding event itself.
  • definition source for the textual definition: IEDB
  • logical definition: EquivalentTo 'T cell epitope recognition assay' and (has_specified_output some ('is about' some ('process is result of' some 'MHC:epitope complex binding to TCR')))
  • term editor: Bjoern Peters, Randi Vita, James A. Overton

We'll add alternative terms and an example of usage to this tracker item.

Can you give the reference for the relation 'process is result of'?
    Thanks,

Consider using realization of disposition of (one or both of the participants in the preceding process) , or defining process is result of as chain of those. That explicitly captures the causal aspect.

Also note the similarity with the regulation relations in GO.

Agreed with Alan that modeling this based on dispositions would be good. Given that the relation is currently in use in a bunch of terms in OBI by the IEDB, and we currently need to add this term, we will go ahead and add it as is, and create a separate tracker item to globally replace the 'process is result of' relation. It really is a 'shortcut relation' for two processes being both in temporal order and one being caused by an event in the other.

This term was added in r4007 as http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/OBI_0002055 "assay measuring T cell epitope specific biological activity"
