Hello BSPO developers, Heiner Oberkampf has been working on modelling measurements in radiology with OBI and OBO ontologies. One of his example is this: "Enlarged lymph node with diameter 56.0 x 45.3 mm". The measurement is of the longest diameter of the lymph node and then its longest perpendicular diameter (both in the plane of the image), as shown here: http://www.recist.com/recist-in-practice/19.html We have a tracker item about this where Alan and Melissa suggested that Heiner use BSPO: https://sourceforge.net/p/obi/obi-terms/692/ Your help would be appreciated. Heiner can send you his latest slides. Here are my initial thoughts... BSPO's textual definition of "anatomical axis" is "A straight line through space, intersecting an anatomical entity." Since a lymph node is an anatomical entity, this is broad enough to allow for an "axis" of a lymph node. Would that usage be acceptable? I'm not sure how to capture the "longest" aspect, but BSPO has an "approximately_perpendicular_to" relation between anatomical axes. The axes we're talking about are supposed to be strictly perpendicular. How would you go about modelling this example? Thanks for your help, James |
