Right now the Package object and its children are serializable to an
XPDL format using the XPDLParser and XPDLSerializer classes.  I didn't
really consider making the objects in the core serializable, but I would
consider it.  Is there any reason to use Java serialization as opposed
to serialization to the XPDL standard?
