I have a problem in Blackboard where I can't keep track of who is writing in replies to posts in my discussion forums. I want to make it where I can automatically tell from html code on the Blackboard web site or try to pick up who's writing. so my professor sent me this email. Can some one give me some resources and tell me if this is possible in NVDA. This will be my first play with Python and NVDA. Scott, Although the official support for this will be through the disabilities office, I know that your academic interest also lies in ways to enable such processes; so, I wanted to share a thought from the academic side. I don't know if you are able to add custom scripts based on html elements to the screen reader, but if you are, this might be something that you could have some fun with trying to script up yourself. Blackboard has won awards for accessibility; so, I am confident the disabilities office will have provided the official solution before you had a script done, but I was thinking you might be interested anyway. In the "Inspect Element" for where you click on the title of each post, there is a layer like "layer_1_12_0_1_0" that tells all of the information for where a post is in threads. In the forums, "layer_1" is always the prompt so all start with this. Then, "_12" means it is the 13th thread created to respond to the discussion prompt since counting starts from zero. This post is then three deep after the 12 for the thread meaning it is a response to a response to a response. It directly responds to the post "layer_1_12_0_1". Just thought that you might enjoy seeing what you might be able to do with this if scripting for the reader is possible. If you are, I'd be happy to help out on reviewing script and such. I am getting confused while in the discussion and I don't want to stomp on someone's else's feet that's just not cool. Thanks much. Scott -- Scott berry email: sb3...@gm... Facebook: sb356607 |
