I can't extract nuweb-1.62.tar.gz on old versions of macOS (e.g. 10.12):

tar: Ignoring malformed pax extended attribute
tar: Ignoring malformed pax extended attribute
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors.

You should exclude xattrs when you create your archives. It's the default when using GNU tar and can be done with BSD tar by using the --no-xattrs flag.
