HTML DocType requirement

Is there a way to set an option to require or not
require HTML doctypes? I was trying to work on virtual
machine on my laptop from a remote location. I did not
want or need to connect my laptop to the network at my
home because all of my testing was going to be done
locally. The problem is that since my virtual machine
could not connect to the internet I could not run any
tests because they would all fail when trying to
resolve the doctype. I also did not want to change the
source code or remove the doctypes on all the pages
that my tests touched. I think it would be convenient
if you could optionally ignore doctypes.
Thanks.

I would have to second that.
I'm using the 2.0 version which works with ASP.NET 2.0. VS 2005 creates a DOCTYPE of xhtml 1.0 transitional. But this fails, I assume because it's too new. When will there be a work aroung or bug fix for this?
