Guys, I notices all the manuals are in HTML format on the website. Do you, by chance, have it in PDF so we can print it out to get to know it easier? I think this is a great tool but having the manual in PDF format will assist me in learning the tool more quickly. I might also be able to write a few tutorials for you then as well. Please advise and thanks!! Sincerely, Chuck Fullerton |

Hmmm, maybe I just had a bad build before. However, if I leave the default values (comment out my NSTHOSTNAME stuff), things worked as before. Guess I'll have to try putting 'home' back in and see if I have the problem again or not. Paul On Tue, 2004-02-10 at 15:53, Paul Blankenbaker wrote: > Hey Ron: > > Just curious. Hey Ron: Just curious. If I set: NSTHOSTNAME="home" I've found that MySQL and Snort don't seem to start up (it complains that root@localhost) is not a valid user. I'm not sure if its due to the host name or not, I'm going to try reconfiguring and comment it out and see what happens. Just curious if you've had success with MySQL/snort on a build with a non-default host name (figured I'd send this note as I wait for it to rebuild). The URL associated with this tool is: http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ Paul On Thu, 2004-01-01 at 08:34, Paul Blankenbaker wrote: > The "Offline NT Password & Registry Editor" (ntpasswd?) tool is provided > as a bootable ISO image that can be used to reset the Administrator > password when a user forgets it on a XP system (NTFS is supported). > > Paul is going to try out the bootable ISO (as he let his son set his own > administrator password and the said son then promptly forgot it). > > The source code is available in a zip file format and it appears that it > may be possible to include this utility in future NST distributions. > > Paul -- // Paul Blankenbaker pa...@me... // 11321 Rolling Springs Dr 317-574-7964 // Carmel IN 46033-3633 us |

The "Offline NT Password & Registry Editor" (ntpasswd?) tool is provided as a bootable ISO image that can be used to reset the Administrator password when a user forgets it on a XP system (NTFS is supported). Paul is going to try out the bootable ISO (as he let his son set his own administrator password and the said son then promptly forgot it). The source code is available in a zip file format and it appears that it may be possible to include this utility in future NST distributions. Hey Ron: In looking at the effort it took to remove dillo (and dreading what it will take to put it back), I'm thinking about adding a "disable.txt" file which would allow us to selectively remove applications. The contents of the file would look like: # # PKG/SCRIPT # applications/dillo.sh The idea being that a "grep" would be done by the install.sh script before it invoked each script and skip the installation of each match in the disabled list. This would be customizable in the following fashion: - When a top level configure is run, it creates: config/disable.txt - If configure finds $HOME/.nst.disable.txt, it will copy that file to config/disable.txt - If it doesn't find a user specific list, it will copy the default disable list from include/data/disable.txt to config/disable.txt - As developers, we will then just update the include/data/disable.txt file as we deprecate packages or decide to re-include them. Does this sound similar to what you were talking about a long time ago? Later, Paul -- // Paul Blankenbaker pa...@me... // 11321 Rolling Springs Dr 317-574-7964 // Carmel IN 46033-3633 us |

Hey Ron: I took a look at phpMyAdmin and here are a few notes: - It does support multiple MySQL servers and they can be remote (it will be a bit trickier at building the server list, but it is possible). - It only supports MySQL (and recent versions) - I'm not skilled enough with PHP to know if there will be issues about changing the config once phpMyAdmin has started (it might be that once you use the phpMyAdmin, you may not be able to change the config without restarting the web server, so you'll want to configure SQL servers PRIOR to using). Hey There: I've added docs/template.xml and docs/emacs.txt. These two files are handy when getting started with DocBook documentation. When you are ready for this step, please refer to the comments in docs/template.xml (as I will be when we discuss it on the phone). Later, Paul |
