Category: Plugin Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: contributor (contributor) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: inetc has live timer on exit? Initial Comment: nsis-2.22 (winxp sp2, athlon64) I have experienced crashes with the mingw-5.1.3.exe installer (somewhat repeatable.) I have read reports of someone else experiencing a (less repeatable) crash with the mingw-5.1.2.exe installer. Having attempted to debug it somewhat blind, and examining the inetc.cpp source... It appears that the mingw installer crashes at an offset of 0x12b4 in what would have been inetc.dll (it has been unloaded shortly before the crashes occur.) Examining inetc.cpp source for possible callback items, I see that a timer is set in onInitDlg() that it appears cannot be destroyed (because it doesn't save the return id from SetTimer()), and I do not find a KillTimer() function. I suspect that this apparently un-destroyed timer is the cause of the mingw installer crash I've experienced, causing a callback into code (pages) that have been released by the OS. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: contributor (contributor) Date: 2007-01-29 12:42 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1190938 Originator: YES I meant to add, that mingw bug report is https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1646259&group_id=2435&atid=102435 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=373085&aid=1647321&group_id=22049 |
