Hello Albert, Indeed the 'systray' options are probably what you're looking for. However, the internal notion statusbar does not support hosting systray applications. For this you'd use a third-party tray app (such as stalonetray or trayion) or a panel app that supports systray icons (such as fbpanel or gnome-panel). It'd be lovely if someone could volunteer writing some better documentation about all this!
