That looks like the way to do it (personally I also sometimes use 'arandr')

Hmm that doesn't seem right. What version of notion are you running?
Perhaps your version doesn't automatically listen for RandR changes yet. Can
you call 'mod_xrandr.screenlayoutupdated()' manually, does that arrange your
workspaces correctly?
