Two things about ion-completefile make it not a problem as far as I can figure.

First (from http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#MereAggregation\):
"By contrast, pipes, sockets and command-line arguments are communication mechanisms normally used between two separate programs. So when they are used for communication, the modules normally are separate programs."

Second:
Tuomo himself added this file so even if it was to be considered part of notion it could also be considered to have been given explicit permission to use it (though without the legalese suggested by http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#GPLIncompatibleLibs\).

That being said, if there was to be an issue here it would be with ion-completefile and libtu since that is a linking relationship.
