Notepad++ will not open a file from Windows Explorer

If I left-click on a file name in Windows (8) Explorer, this message box is displayed:
"ShellExecute failed (2): Is this command correct?
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\Notepad++.exe"
"S:\ntp-dev-4.3.15\ntp-dev-4.3.15\ports\winnt\ntpd\ntp_iocompletionport.c"
Obviously, notepad++ fails to load any file name, not just the one given in the last line above. Notepad++ has refused to load any file from Explorer since the last 3-4 versions. Is there a solution to this problem?
