I have a very long log file, where I would to show only the start of a new command in the document map, thus the map document would be an overview of commands with links like a table of contents..

No, the document view is actually just a zoomed out view of the main view.
however, you might want to take a look at the log analyzer plugin, that can do regex, and is meant for analyzing log files.
