Can someone please put some time into the FTP synchronize plugin? I have terrible stability issues with it.

It crashes notepad++ all the time for me when a session has timed out and I click to reconnect without clicking ok to the timeout window first.

Also it does not follow symlinks properly.

If i have files I download from one directory and I want to upload them to overwrite files in a different directory it reports success but doesnt actually overwrite the files in the new directory.

If the ftp handshake hick-ups it sits there stalled out for a long time then NP++ crashes.

Its a laundry list a mile long and these are just a few things I can think of off the top of my head as I'm writing this.

If this was written in a language I write I would love to look at the code and try to contribute, but unfortunately I'm just a lowly php dev - and this is my product of choice while I work.

I really need the FTP functionality to be stable. Please help!

I would like to add a feature request / bug fix if i may...

When an ftp connection terminates, dont pop up an error message. Just throw something to the FTP Messages log window about termination and just close up the sockets and connections gracefully and reset the connection window....

My guess is that doing it that way might clean up some of the stability because most of my crashes happen after or during the appearence of that popup window (ie i didnt know it was there, and tried upload a file, then have to click ok, and the whole thing just sort of unravels).

I'm having the same exact, frustrating issue.  It's so frustrating and disruptive when you try connecting to a site and the connection status just freezes with the 3 lines.  Now, when using Notepad++, I've developed an FTP-Connectaphobia.

I just sent an email to the maintainer of the plugin:

      [quote]
      Hi,

I am writing because I was wondering if I could possibly get an update from you regarding the future development and bug fixes for your FTP Synchronize plugin for np++. I use this religiously because I feel notepad++ offers me a superior set of tools I need as a php developer. Unfortunately, the stability of the FTP plugin has been pretty bad and causes me quite a few interruptions throughout my work day. I have already tried switching to phpDesigner as a replacement but had to come back since there is no way to make their FTP module save copies of the ftp files locally - The concept design of your system is far superior to theirs, its just not stable.

So here I sit, stuck with a great piece of software that crashes on me constantly. So what I, and others would like to know is:

      - Are you aware of theses issues?

      - Are you planning on fixing them?

      - If not, how do we go about getting someone else to pick up the project?

      - If you are, is it possible to get some sort of road map / schedule / eta on these stability fixes?

      - Realistically how much time a week can/do you put in to this? (just an honest question so I can gauge on my own when to expect fixes)

There is a thread going in the plugin discussion forum with more information my findings specifically:
      https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=3361649&forum_id=482781

I don't want to come off as 'complaining' I really do appreciate the hard work you have put in on this and we all know you aren't getting paid for it. I would just like to end this email with a Thank You, for giving us what we do have to work with.

      Thanks,
      Rick
