I don't know if this is a notepad problem, a windows 7 problem, or my problem. Logged on (to win 7) as an Administrator (Admin), I can edit a file (applicationhost.config), but if I try to save it, Notepad asks "Please check if this file is opened in another program" (it isn't). The Effective Permissions for user Admin on the file are Full Control.
I can save the file somewhere else, and then Copy/Paste to the original location. In the paste process, a dialog says "You'll need to provide administrator permission to copy to this folder"; I click Continue and it pastes. (Incidentally, MS, the title of the warning dialog is a misleading "destination folder access denied". Deferred until you click "continue", perhaps, but not Denied.)
So: is Notepad somehow getting stopped by the same sort of "You'll need to provide..." warning that I get? Or...?
