If I select say 20-30 files in Windows Explorer, right click and say "Open with NotePad++", all files are loaded into the correct number of tabs. However, if I click on the close tab option, and keep clicking it, eventually all my tabs disappear. There are still files open as I can toggle between them - it's just the tabs themselves have vanished.
Any ideas? I'm using v3.5.

When you've closed all tabs in view, clicking the X to close a tab does close the tabs, but there is no refresh on the tab view. If I manually click the < button, the tab section is filled with open tabs again.
Any chance of fixing this? It is seriously annoying!

There is a "workaround" for this until it get hopefully fixed.
When happens, just go to File->New... it creates a new file tab and old tabs are recoverd too.
OR simply, double-click on the last empty place on the tab area. It opens a new file and all tabs are recovered.

Yep, happens to me too. I installed latest version 4.1.2 and it still happens. When you have many tabs (10+?), if you remove tabs, sometimes all tabs but the current one disappear. They're still there, as if you click where the tab should be it brings the tab content, but the actual tab is not there to see.
Actually, it just happened to me and I don't even have many tabs open, just about 5 (there may have been more at one time, not sure). When I closed a document, the tabs disappeared.
FYI I have the Tab bar options of: "Reduce", "Draw the inactive tabs", and "Draw the orange top bar" on, the others are off.

I also just saw this with 4.1.2. I just installed Notepad++ this morning and am using all default options except for having changed the "tab" setting from tabs to spaces. At the time I saw the issue I had opened about ten files, edited saved & closed each one, after which I still had four files open but only the active tab showed in the tab bar. Note that the space for the other tabs was still there, and clicking on the empty space made the tab visible but hid the previously active tab.

Just tried with v3.7 - same problem.
