On your Desktop, press the Windows Logo Key next to Ctrl on your keyboard and r at the same time and type winver in the box and tell me what is displayed, just the basics, not the copyright or who it's registered to stuff..
Plus, what Notepad++ version are you using and how did you install? Portable Apps, .zip, .exe, custom build, etc.?

Is there any way to bypass Vista security to load N++ without the annoying User Control dialog box?
Thanks...
OK,
Good, just got this reply while I was typing the other one...
Anyways, why don't you just try this:
1) Uninstall/Remove your Notepad++
2) Download https://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?group_id=95717&use_mirror=&filename=npp.5.1.4.Installer.exe&20111049
3) Install the .exe file, just double click.
4) Don't change the install directory or change any options (Maybe you want to add Use Notepad++ as default source viewer in IE, that's fine)
5) Try it out...
Hope this helps!
Allen
Thanks Allen! This removed the UAC screen.
When I re-installed, the shortcut key I assigned to N++ now works (it didn't on the previous install). Do you happen to know why these shut on or off?
Steve
Have no idea...
Probably somehow Notepad++ Files and Settings got inconsistent and just didn't work...
But glad to hear that it worked!
Allen
So am I. Thanks Allen...
Never got any UAC Message before on all of the 10 different Windows Vista Machines I've installed Notepad++ on...
How did you install it and what version are you using? Computer 64-bit or 32-bit?

Originally Vista was pre-installed. Then I re-formatted and started over using the rescue DVD's I made.
This doesn't aid me...
