The printer shows that there is a document pending but nothing happens. I don't have this issue when I print documents from other programs. I use windows 7 Professional. My printer is an HP Deskjet 6940

This is a known issue, invariably involving HP printers.
1/ If you check the Print in file box on the Print dialog, does the problem persist?
2/ Does the problem persist if your document has only 1 short line? 2 short lines? A full page of lines and a litttle more? Has your document embedded FF characters for page break?

Hi CChris
Yes the problem is still there after checking the print in file box. I just typed a one line sentence in notepad++ & clicked on the print now & the document actually printed. I've just also noticed that there is no print option on the toolbar just print now.
In the original document I was trying to print there were no embedded FF characters for a page break that I could see. The text in the document does have rows of these symbols:
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
do you think they are causing issues?
Thank you for helping me!

Excuse my ignorance but I'm not sure why you mention the change log file as that's not what I'm trying to print? The original document I'm trying to print is set to print on paper.
Are these considered to be unusual characters?

I wouldn't expect the ^to be unusual, but perhaps your driver is of a different mind.
I tested the first multipage file I could grab, and that was the change.log from Notepad++. It printed correctly under XP Home SP3, printer is HP OfficeJet J4500.
Can you email me your file, possibly amended to protect the innocent, so that I can try it out? quasar850 hat rediffmail doubt com

I appear to have fixed the issue myself. I simply removed everything that wasn't text/alpha numerical & the document printed just fine.
I no longer have the original document as I re-saved it when I made the changes. Thank you very much for your help.

Out of the blue I cannot print using the print or print now option in notepad ++
What happens when you use them? Also telling what your OS and printer are could help.

The change.log file needs two pages to print, and does not have any unusual character in it. Does it print on paper or in file?
