Perhaps nobody 1 means that Chinese input method (or 'program'? I don't know the exact word ) does not function with Notepad++, he or she inputs Chinese characters in Notepad++ with Chinese input method/program, but it comes to system default English letters in Notepad++.

        Thank for your explanation, Joycelyn.

        I did understand the problem.

If he/she wants me to support the Chinese input under English Windows, he/she has to explain me how to do it (there should be some kinds of program to do that) in order that I can do the test.

If you know some Chinese, you can use a Chinese IME (Input Method Editor) -- Microsoft gives some away for Windows, and also a set for Office.

However, if you don't know Chinese, you may or may not be able to use the Chinese IMEs (you can try, and I recommend using pinyin input).

My suggestion for people that don't know any Chinese would be to simply try copying and pasting characters in from the clipboard.

PS: Microsoft supports both a traditional Chinese IME (for traditional characters, which are slightly more complex, and are still used in Taiwan, Singapore, and abroad), and a simplified Chinese IME (for simplified characters, which have been nationally mandated in mainland China I think).

I can now confirm that it also doesn't work correctly with Greek input. Typing Greek letters in, using the Microsoft Greek keyboard driver, results in accented Latin vowels being displayed in notepad-plus.

(Caveat: I still get those three messagebox errors at startup when I run notepad-plus -- I dunno if they relate to this.)

      PS: More re: Chinese IME

This web page looks pretty good, for explaining how to install Chinese IME:

      http://www.andante.org/ime_install.html

(He didn't mention it, but you first need to log in as a member of the Administrators group.)

I tried Chinese IME with notepad++ under xp , it works fine. Whereas under w2k, it doesn't work.
