I like notepad++, and it's great... but only ftp they can supported... how about a plugin support for SFTP. The most commonly i used when editing my Linux server. Actually editing my webapps written in python - django framework...

Don't edit directly on server - edit locally, and use a source/version control system (http://subversion.tigris.org , for instance) to sync with your server.

I agree that changes on the server are not a good idea, but if you allow SFTP connection you can use it like a tail and its extremely handy for projects using multiple files. Editplus handles it extremely nicely where you can open files remotely and locally and rather then putty and tailing you can automatically load all logs etc.
One of my favorite features of editplus. I believe it is the one thing missing significantly in notepad++ to not allow remote ftp/sftp sftp particularly).

I don't know if the DocMonitor/NetNote plugin supports SFTP connections. If it does, you can edit "collaboratively" your remote file.
