I've been using Notepad++ for quite some time and my projects are getting bigger and bigger, I know from the unenlightened that DevCPP can save project files which when opened show a diagram of all the files in the project where you can open and edit any easily. I couldn't help but think of how good an idea this is. I've looked through Notepad++ but haven't found anything similar and so thought I'd suggest it... if its already there then I'm sorry and could somebody tell me where?
Also, didn't there used to be an inbuilt Hex Editor, or am I just imagining it? I think it would be rather handy for some people and if it could be re-instated.
And thanks for the editor, its fantastic and by far the best I've used on Windows and on Linux!

I came to this forum today to suggest the exact same thing! After reading Ruespe's suggestion I tried using the "Session" feature but it still isn't suiting my needs.
For example, I'm working on a project that has, like, at least thirty different directories with about a hundred assorted code files in them. I would like to have all these directories displayed in a sidebar -- on the left or ride side of the code frame. Then I can expand/collapse the "project tree" directories to see what text files are located within them, then double-click on a text file to start editing it.
This is a feature request similar to that of Adobe Dreamweaver's project tree, e-TextEditor's project tree, or even Komodo Edit's project tree. Notepad++ is by far my favorite free text editor but the lack of a project tree /really/ sets me back in terms of productivity.
I have attached a screenshot of what a "project tree" looks like -- incase I'm using the wrong terminology or my description was confusing.
Oh yes, this is a very good suggestion. Creating a project-file (ini- or xlm-like file), which contains some characteristics of the project and all files, which belong to the project. Opening the project-file (*.nppp?) via explorer or file-open-Menu opens all project-files. And add some new topics to the file-menu (as sub-Menu):
- open project,
- save whole project,
- close whole project,
- add file to project,
- delete file from project.
I support this suggestion.

What about using Favourites provided by the Explorer plugin?
https://sourceforge.net/projects/npp-plugins/
Try the NPP-Plugins Explorer (look at DV's post), Light Explorer and the buildt-in Favorites. Not the same as in your example but hopefully they will do it for you.

Just a hint für your images: You'd better use the direct-link at image-shak:
