1. Can you reproduce it constantly with some file? I.e. do you have a file which becomes corrupted each time you save it?
2. If so, can you upload such file (original non-corrupted file) somewhere or send it to me by e-mail?

It's very simple, you can achieve the same effect through the replacement of the words, it occurs more frequently and without pay.
Today, all do it.
This problem only occurs when editing a Cyrillic file, but can not just.

Can't reproduce, all is OK with Russian text after several replacements and saving/reopening.
Maybe you are using some old/problematic plugins.
Try to download latest Notepad++ in zip archive, unzip this archive to new empty folder and run Notepad++ from that folder.
Oh, Don, I guess such approach should be listed somewhere in Notepad++'es Help/FAQ about avoiding problems...

I have opened the damaged file and have changed a word "запоминающее" on "запприветооющее"

I REPEAT: This problem arises at simple editing and at replacement of the text too.
!!! Sometimes on search too there are strange things:

Before installation I delete the old version.
But in newer the version this problem generates all more difficultly.
And please, change a name of a theme " Again problem with UCS-2 "

After saving the text and re-open it some text changes to the characters ..

Just copy-paste Cyrillic text from :

Save it as UCS-2 Big Endian text file.
Close it then reopen it - no problem.
