I'd like the option by default. But, I did add <Item id="41004"/> to "application data\notepad++\contextMenu.xml", saved and restarted Notepad++. I don't see the option in the tab context menu. Do I have to add it under <ScintillaTabBar> instead of <ScintillaContextMenu> or something?

Yep. I don't see this particular issue, but perhaps there still is an existing one. Either way, the effort was made.

You cannot edit the tab context menu, only the main context menu, unless you recompile Notepad++
