Having installed 0.6 on my Suse 9.2 box (php 4.3.8), when I go to the index page I get the above fatal error reported in connect.php.
Since this is a basic PHP command I am at a loss to know where to prod, surely not a missing module?

The above is fine and dandy. The problem is that apache (or more probably the modphp) needed a restart after the session module was added, so it all worked fine from the shell, but not via the web browser!
Problem Solved :)

Forgot to say the session module *is* installed according to php -m
What information do you see in the "session" section when you run the phpinfo() command?

That's good to hear. I was really scratching my head after seeing your phpinfo() output, because everything looked fine.
