Yeah. That will be because I uploaded a new version of the FAQ and deleted the old one. The new URL is <https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=9138&group_id=39625> or (still) <http://nms-cgi.sourceforge.net/FAQ.html> This links both work for me even when I'm not logged in to SourceForge. I see that the number of subscribers on this list has grown substantially on this list since the perl.com article was published. There are now 33 of us. The number of registered nms developers, however, has remained constant at 6. I thought it might therefore be useful to remind you all that we're pretty inclusive on this project. Anyone can become a developer. All you need to do is to register with SourceForge at <https://sourceforge.net/account/register.php> and then drop me an email with your new SourceForge username. I'll then add you to the list of nms developers and you'll then be able to contribute directly by accessing the code in our CVS repository. Let me know if you have any questions. I've added Windows .zip files to the downloads available from <http://nms-cgi.sourceforge.net>. I _think_ they've got DOS/Win style line endings on them as well. Please take a look and let me know if there's any problem with them. Dave... -- "Don't you boys know any _nice_ songs?" |

Woops, sorry about that. I didn't realize that would happen; wasn't thinking. At any rate, I'll start on the cookie.lib docs as soon as I finish the search docs. I see we now have a first version of cookielib in CVS, which is great. I notice, however, that when I check it out, it has DOS line endings. I'm more than happy for people to do development under Windows if they feel more comfortable there, but surely CVS will handle the line-end conversions if asked to? Thanks to everyone that's helped out. I've just released new (documented) versions of textcounter, textclock, ssi_rand_image, rand_text, rand_image, rand_link, guestbook, formmail, ffa and countdown. I think that Joe Ryan was going to work on search and that only leaves wwwboard - which I'm not too bothered about as the script isn't really ready yet anyway. I'll work on it over the next couple of days. Thanks again. Dave... -- Drugs are just bad m'kay |

It depends. If the variable is a completely internal one then please feel free to call it whatever you want (subject to good variable naming conventions of course!) If the variable is one of the configuration variables that the user sets then I think that sticking with Matt's name is advisable as people will be used to using Matt's name and they may get confused if they can't find a variable with the expected name. On the other hand. If one of Matt's variables is really badly named, then I have no objection to changing the name - as long as change is well-documented both in comments in the code an in the README file. Please run any suggestions for changes past this list first tho'. In this particular case if the variable contains a URL and the name implies that it's a file path then I think that renaming it would be a good idea. I'll make the change today. > Attached is a new README for rand_image. I hope I got right what you > wanted. That was one of the ones that I was going to do today. I don't know if you folks have seen this advisory: http://www.monkeys.com/anti-spam/formmail-advisory.pdf I've contacted the author and he claims that many of the listed vunerabilities are also present in the current NMS version of this script. I checked whether he had informed you and he told me that he hasn't, and that he doesn't plan to. I don't have any more details--I just figured I'd pass on this info... |
