This is strange, I am having the same problem.
Just about last month I can find some node and search was returning result but just can not download from behind http proxy and firewall. Now my neighborhood node is 0. After more than 1 hour of running.
There must be something wrong with the netmess auto-configure site that is why netmess node can not get a list of any active node.

The way netmess currently is functioning, it does not authenicate properly through microsoft proxy, netscape proxy ... And user unable to download from node behind firewall and proxy server, I don't thing there are many netmess user out there.
If you are behind a corporate proxy/firewall, don't even try netmess, it will not work.

Having no managed nodes is not abnormal for behind proxies nodes. What is your conenction quality index ?

You're wrong it works for me (through MS Proxy and Squid) and for many other people
Yes, and I am one of those that had it working behind ISA proxy server ( for a day) until the network admin blocked all netmess traffic.
At least your admin is quite responsive :)

You should try to set ForceHTTPTunneling=2 in your netmess.ini
But if you are behind a corporate firewall, give it up, it will not work.
